vbnetKKTechGameMaster is a rtf word editor for role-playing aid, written in Visual Basic .NET 2005, to help Game Masters in the fulfillment of new adventures. The word editor manages .rtf files and has all the most important features needed to edit and format the documents.
The editor has a special toolbar in which a subsystem of fonts is categorized in different combo boxes. The combo boxes are populated by external conf files that can be edited manually.
All the fonts used to build the subsystems of categorized fonts are not distributed with the project and must be downloaded as written in the Release Notes.
The editor has two random name generators to help the Game Master to choose new characters' and geographical names. The random name generators allow to pronunce, only in english language, the name choosed from the list randomly generated, by a Microsoft Agent Character (Merlin).
The project is multilanguage: all the labels, menus and messages of the application may translated in different languages producing the configuration file with the appropriate translations.
The help file and the installer are in english language only.
This release introduces an important bug fixing. Bugs fixed are:
- modified Open and Save features for rtf and txt files
- modified Add to Favorites... when adding a new bookmark for the web browser
- to suppress script errors and stop popups you have to modify IE Internet Options: Advanced - Browsing - Disable script debugging(Other)
- added the Context Menu and enabled tab characters to RichTextBox
Furthermore, the source code structure has been fully reorganized.
The features from previous releases are listed below:
- Word Editor, including:
- word editing functions in RTF format
- list of values of pre-defined fonts' families; the list of values are external text files
- list of values of pre-defined fonts' dimensions and font colors; the list of values are external text files
- Tools, including:
- Standard Random Name Generator, with a text-to-speech character agent
- Random Name Generator based on pre-defined names' lists, with a text-to-speech character agent
- Pdf and Word Documents browsing, Acrobat Reader is needed
- Web browser, with the most important base features of a internet browser including the base features to manage Favorites
- Multilanguage features with external configuration files with the translation of all the labels, menus and messages of the application.
- Custom Help Files, can be added just modifying two conf files where you need to write the description and the file name of your custom html help file (chm file format only)

Third Party Software
We used Nullsoft Scriptable Install System 2.38 to produce the installer, in english language only. You can find the Nullsoft script vbnetKKTechGameMaster.nsi in the directory where you installed vbnetKKTechGameMaster.
No Third Party components and/or Third Party fonts, free for personal use only, will be distributed with vbnetKKTechGameMaster.

Future Directions
The first goal of this project was to produce a simply role-playing aid tool to help really the Game Masters. For example, we considered not necessary a random dice roller.
We are working on different fronts:
- new features
- a new project written in Java: jKKTechGameMaster
We are working to study the following new features:
- character generator
- random dice roller
- map editor
We are also working to produce a set of open source fonts. As of know we are testing a project working with an open source font editor: DoubleType 0.2.1 and/or TTFEdit 1.0.
